3 Weather Threats to Be Wary of During Fall
Fall appears like a calm season but it is not without its threats, which can do a number on your home if you are not careful. Know what you’re up against and you can help ensure nothing stands in the way of your vinyl siding installation and other home improvement projects. Timberland Exteriors is here to help.
Weather threats you should be wary of include:
1. Severe Thunderstorms
While fall offers a respite from the heat, transitioning between summer and winter results in a clash involving warm, humid air and cold, dry air, creating severe thunderstorms. Spring sees more of them but thunderstorms in the fall can be just as violent, bringing torrential downpours, damaging winds, and tornadoes. Typically, one or two severe thunderstorms can be expected during fall.
2. Heavy Fog
Heavy fog can also roll in during the fall season, gravely affecting visibility for motorists which can result in an increase in accidents and travel delays. In fact, the Federal Highway Administration reports that over 28,500 vehicular crashes occur each year on average in the U.S. because of fog. Foggy weather is not limited to fall, but there is an increase during the time of the year because nights are longer and cooler. Fog that develops overnight has a tendency then to last into the morning but should not be a problem if you’re planning a vinyl window installation project.
3. Early Frost
More prevalent in rural areas, early frost can cut short the growing season, especially for sensitive plants. Suburban communities are able to keep early frost at bay thanks to pavement that helps retain heat inside most cities.
